🚀 Summary #

My name is François BERTET, I am a 31-year-old DevOps Engineer living near Paris 🇫🇷. After completing a master’s degree in computer science at EPITA in 2017, I joined Sevenhugs, a ~20-person startup specializing in IoT. We grew to ~60 people before being acquired in 2020 by Qorvo, an American semiconductor company, where I worked as a Senior DevOps Engineer.

After a sabbatical year focused on learning and building things (See /projects), I am currently available for new opportunities as a DevOps Engineer.

👨‍💻 Work Experience #

  • [2020 – 2024] Senior Backend Engineer / DevOps – Qorvo – Paris, France

    • Design and implementation of optimized and parallelized CI/CD pipelines on GitLab.
    • Configuration of reproducible hardware test servers for QA team using SaltStack, Docker and other automation tools.
    • Deployment of a hybrid CI/CD infrastructure supporting 100+ developers, composed of bare‑metal servers, AWS EKS and OVH VMs in order to conciliate specific hardware needs, scalability and optimized costs.
    • Administration of an AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, IAM, VPC, etc.) provisioned with Terraform.
    • Implementation and deployment of several RESTful APIs in Python Flask to serverless AWS Lambda functions.
    • Development of custom tools and bots using Python and Docker to assist and check developers’ work.
    • Automation and integration of the Product team release process into CI/CD pipelines, eliminating hours of manual work per release.
    • Creation of an Airflow pipeline to make user data processing GDPR compliant.
    • Completion of Kubernetes fundamentals, Advanced Kubernetes and Operate Kubernetes training by Enix.
    • Work organization following agile Scrum & SAFe methods.

  • [2017 – 2020] Embedded Software Engineer – Sevenhugs – Montrouge, France

    • Development of integrations (connected devices and services) for the Smart Remote, Sevenhugs’ universal remote control.
    • Design and development of the SDK enabling the development of these integrations in C++/Lua.
    • Implementation of system features (Scenes, Custom UI, etc.) and of the Smart Remote’s RESTful API.

  • [2015 – 2016] Data Engineer Intern – Happn – Paris, France

    • Implementation of a distributed ETL in Python that transforms and gathers data from various sources into Google BigQuery.
    • Realization of product, acquisition and business analysis based on this data.
    • Creation of dashboards using Tableau Desktop for other teams’ usage.

  • [2014 – 2015] Android Developer – Innovation Institute of EPITA – Kremlin-Bicêtre, France

    • Development of various mobile customer projects such as SportBooking, an Android application allowing users to register for tennis tournaments organized by ForestHill clubs.
